The listing, SEAGATE BARRACUDA HARD DRIVE has ended.
This hard drive came out of a computer i bought at a yard sale. its a barracuda 7200 80 gb .it works just great but has a counterfiet copy of windows 7 on it and you need a password which i don't know...i am not computer savvy enough to know how to get around these problems so i am parting this computer out..please email me with any questions.
What the .... ??? LOL. Hard Drives do NOT have passwords. Only the system info system (BIOS) does ... or the operating system. A format of the HD & fresh copy of a operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) will take care of that.
All that would be needed for this item to work properly is to use a hard drive wipe program and reinstall whatever operating system you want. I could definitely use this drive as a secondary hard drive in my computer for extra space or I could even use it as an external hard drive.
To bypass any password just reboot computer in safe mode. There is an hidden administrator account on safe mode that gives permission to change any password to any account, but if you try to install this, you will get an error when loading the Operating system, because the operating system is only registered to the computer you got it out of therefore making the screen go blue or creating an error. Unless of course you mount as a secondary drive, then you can access whatever is on it without logging on the operating system. Fanned and watching!! :D
Also to easly wipe a hardrive, just go to DOS and type in fdisc in older windows. not able to do so in windows 7 and im not sure about vista. of course you can use an operating system disc and wipe the entire drive that way and reinstall at the same time.
