The Danbury Mint sold 3 series of gold-plated baseball cards via a mail service between 1995-2005. The first series is the most common (the extremely popular Babe Ruth from the set is actually the most common; it was the first card received for signing up for the service), while the second and third series are harder to come by, having been printed in much smaller numbers as the service became less popular.
This card is from the second series, #84 in the set.
It features Alex Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners.
Having last played with the New York Yankees (2016), A-Rod ranks 3rd all-time in career home runs, having claimed 5 home run titles along the way. He won 10 Silver Sluggers, made 14 All Star teams, and was named American league MVP three times.
