These castor plants were given to me by a friend, otherwise I probably would never have tried them. The beans are highly poisonous and I would not have them around young children. If you have children, just pop the flowers off before they can go to seed. They are the plants that legengary castor oil is produced from.

The leaves in the picture measure approximately 12" across and make a stunning display as a single cut leaf in a vase. These plants grew to approximately 8' to 10' tall. Gives your planting a tropical feel.

The second picture is of the seed pods which measure about 8" tall but the blooms are secondary to the multi-branched plants.

These plants like full sun and can tolerate midwest summers. Give them a try!
