It weighs your mail and tells exactly how much postage is needed to mail packages over the weight of a normal envelope. If you sign up for stamps.com you can then go on their site and print out postage for the exact amount and not have to go to the post office.

not totally sure. we had stamps.com since we got our first one. I would think you could use it without and just weigh it and put appropriate postage on, but you would probably end up spending more on stamps then you would really have to.

You do need to sign up. When you do they will give you 5 bucks to use for stamps and an intro kit. I use it all the time.

I had stamps.com accoutna and i didn't need anymore and they tried to bribe me to stay. I said i wanted to cancel and they said they added a month free, i said no and he said another month free and $45 worth of stamps, then more and I had to say i wanted to cancel like 4 times before the guy sounded upset. Stamps.com is awesome though and is great!!! they get dissapointed when someone leaves.... i might go back to them, this scale is perfect!!!
