Anna Mary Robertson Moses (September 7, 1860 – December 13, 1961), known by her nickname Grandma Moses, was a renowned American folk artist. Having begun painting in earnest at the age of 78, she is often cited as an example of an individual successfully beginning a career in the arts at an advanced age.

AUTHORIZED GRANDMA MOSES DETAIL PAINTING THE RED BARN (S-955) from her painting EARLY SPRINGTIME ON THE FARM. Pre-1950's; an AUTHORIZED FRAMED REPRODUCTION THROUGH C & A RICHARDS, BOSTON MASS. This is a company that framed for many artists: one of their specialties was smaller 'DETAIL' PAINTINGS taken from larger works, reproduced and framed in what I think was a successful attempt to get artists and their art into the working class homes after WWII.(post 1945) These were affordably done, smaller so not a huge amount of wall space needed.
This reproduction done on barkcloth ~ there is texturizing of the medium, and colors are muted/washed-out, which was done purposefully.
Painting measures 6-1/2 in. across, 4-5/8 in. high. Wooden frame is simple
GRANDMA MOSES WAS OVER 100 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE DIED. OOOPs my finger got in the photo!
