The listing, Democratic Candidate Pinbacks, Buttons from 1968 & 1972 has ended.
We may as well call this grouping of pinbacks "The Unlucky 13", as it features 13 different political buttons dating back to 1968, and all of the candidates featured on these pinbacks were unsuccessful in their respective White House quests. First off we feature two Eugene McCarthy buttons from 1968, followed by three Hubert H. Humphrey pins also dating from 1968; one of the Humphrey pins features his running mate, Sen. Edmund Muskie, who is featured on his very own button following Humphrey's, when he was the short lived front runner in 1972. Next up are five George McGovern buttons from 1972, three of which also feature his second running mate's name - that being the fabulous Sargent Shriver and we conclude this lot with two buttons featuring Alabama's Governor at the time, the infamous George C. Wallace. I've provided photos of the front and back of all the buttons. All of the items are authentic. I will not offer up reproductions. All of the items are in excellent shape with the exception of the 1.75 inch McGovern button which does show some fading. Realize the oldest items in this lot are 49 years old, the youngest are 45 years old. A fine jump start on a new collection; a good way to acquire some missing fillers on an existing collection and an excellent way to momentarily return to a simpler time - when the Viet Nam war raged, the Civil Rights movement was in full swing and Vice President Spiro T. Agnew railed against liberals by calling them "an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals". Hey, what do you want for nothing?
