I use velcro to attach it to the top of the dash. I don't remember ever using a mount, but I did get it new as a gift. I did find the owner's manual. You know the small velcro patches with adhesive on the back? That works great for mounting the detector.

gin...get it now lol ,the winshield mount is only a cew bucks ,i have some kicking around i can post if that helps,they went to a cobra i had, upgraded to the passport ix and in grill ones pita having to take em down when you go thru a state that dont allow them
