Yes, it's a sitcom that is set in the overly familiar setting of the bustling hospital and yes, it features a cast of young, good-looking stars and quirky character actors. But, with all of these seeming clichés of network television, SCRUBS manages to have emerged as one of the wittiest, and most original television programs in years. Starring Zach Braff as J.D., a talented young intern; the lovely Sarah Chalke as Eliott, his on-again, off-again love interest and fellow intern; and Donald Faison as J.D.'s wacky best friend "Turk," the show manages to bring a perfect fusion of irreverent humor and earnest warmth to the hospital sitcom format. In Season Two, the relationship between J.D. and Elliot, now exes, becomes complicated when they are forced to move in together, while "Turk" and his saucy nurse girlfriend Carla, decide to go for it and get engaged. In addition, charismatic guest stars including Heather Locklear as a seductive drug sales rep, Tom Cavanaugh as J.D.'s deadbeat brother, and Rick Shroeder as Elliot's new boyfriend, arrive to spice up the action.
