Don't know what's its for but it says it's for portable players or home stereo systems and u plug it in and then u plug headphones u can plug 2 into it so that's kind of cool...

Hmm OK so if u have a movie playing on ur laptop and u and someone can plug it up and hook 2 sets of earphones and don't have to be right up on the laptop or each other u have 18 ft... lol I guess that's what it's for IDK lol
