Description

The listing, Hamsa Hand with Pentacle Necklace and Earring Set *Protection and Good Luck!* has ended.

I made this set using Tibetan silver pentacles and Hamsa charms. The Hamsa features a swiveling evil eye bead. The Tibetan silver bail features a Greek key motif.
The Hamsa hand provides protection from the evil eye and the pentacle is a very protective symbol as well making this set a powerful amulet for protection and good luck.
The 24" chain is silver plated and the French hook ear wires are hypoallergenic surgical steel. The earrings hang about 1.50" from the bottom of the ear wire.

Sterling is 925 parts out of 1,000 pure silver. The small remaining amount is other metals added to stablize and strengthen the silver to make it better and more durable for jewelry and the like. Silver is a very heavy but soft metal that bends easily.
Tibetan silver is an alloy (a mix of metals) that has only a very small amount of actual silver. So, it does not have any value as silver but it is lightweight and durable with some of the beauty of silver. It is an excellent and affordable alternative to Sterling.

The pentacle (or pentagram) is a very old symbol, dating back thousands of years. It has been used by many different cultures and religions over the millennia. It was even used by Christianity at one point to represent the 5 wounds of Christ.
In modern times it has been adopted by the Wiccan/Neo Pagan movement as a banner symbol (kind of like what the cross is to Christianity).
In this incarnation, the pentacle has come to represent 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. Spirit is at the apex above all. For this reason it is favored by Wiccans to use/have present in circle when calling the quarters.

This is just a quick overview, the history and uses of the 5-pointed star is long and varied and I encourage all that are interested to research it for themselves, as it is an interesting and worthwhile subject!
