Have you tried growing these from seeds? I don't seem to have much luck with seeds, especially unusual bulb type. Do you have any bulbs you might consider listing, with postage, of course!!!!
Yes I have grown irises from seeds. It really is not hard. Draw warm water (approx 100 degrees) and soak them a minimum of 6 hours, I usually do 24. After 24 hours I plant them in loose soil about 1/4 inch deep. I usually do them in a pot or in my nursery as it is much easier for me to keep track of them, their water etc. Do not put them in soil that has fertilizer added to it. Sprinkle cinnamon on the seeds before covering with dirt. Within a month they will be up and looking like little miniatures of their moms. If you live where in ag zone 6 or lower please give the babies some protection over the winter. No I am not listing any of these bulbs as I still need them to spread more or my other iris babies. The only bulbs I would consider listing at this time are my pretty purple ones. I do not know their name but they are a gorgeous kindof 2 tone.
Thanks for answering my question!!! You are the ONLY lister of seeds that have answered, leading me to believe the others I have written have not planted seeds, or worse are listing seeds they have gotten from China (as I have) and so many of those will not produce or will not stay true to colors, etc (especially roses, I have been told). The bulbs you would consider listing, are they Japanese or regular iris? Either way, I would be interested in knowing what you would consider a listing worth your time, as to number of bulbs, postage, possibly a GIN? If you would rather continue this through email: hotsprgs2@aol.com will get me. Thanks for your time, and again especially for answering my question!!!!! Jay P.S. I copied your answer as I may win this auction IF I don't go to sleep!!
Hey Jay I will send you an email with pics of the iris. I truly do not know whether they are Japanese or Siberian but they are very pretty. I have yellow ones that someone gave me last year to add to my garden but they will not be blooming for another month probably.
