My two year old son asked for this story every night for about three months. He enjoys looking at the pictures as Little Bear's room is slowly revealed with the successively brighter lanterns. I enjoy reading about Big Bear who shows the patience and love I hope to show my little bear as I respond to his needs and fears. This book is warmly and beautifully written and has become one of our special books. I would also recommend the story for nonconventional families as Big Bear is never identified as "Dad" and could be representative of any adult male in a child's life.
