The listing, Red Fenton Carnival Glass Bowl the Lotus Dragon Period 1990's has ended.
Fenton has been making carnival glass for many years back to the early 1900's. You can tell their mark by the bottom, under the "n" should be a number or an "f". If it is a number you can tell approximately the age of the piece. This is Fenton with a 9, which means it is from the 1990's, it is from their "Dragon Lotus" period. This gorgeous pedestal lotus flower is full of colors. I have many collectible glass pieces to list and most are signed, the signed pieces are worth much more and even more so if it can be dated or comes from a collection design period. Those that know carnival and Murano glass know what I am talking about. I am also very picky about my glass, and those that know carnival glass know that they can get too much glaze "metallic spray" in certain spots causing the glass to look over lapped or not enough spray making it appear like a black spot or chip when in fact it is not chipped. Here is my advice for all glass lovers. Run your fingers over all areas of the glass, if it is not smooth to the touch that is an area where the factory did not get an even coat of spray. I have found very few pieces smooth to touch completely So since I am so picky I like to point them out and say and show what I found as a glass collector my whole life. Inside this beautiful lotus I can feel two areas where they got too much glaze see pics, its really hard to see unless you feel for it, too much glaze still feels smooth but has a bubble type feel. On the edge of this beautiful lotus I can feel a spot that does not have enough glaze, not enough glaze makes the area appear to look like a spot that is usually darker than the glass piece see pic. Yes I am that picky, this beautiful lotus flowers has no cracks, no chips, and is a gorgeous flower that can be dated by a famous carnival glass maker.
