The pattern says "Simple piecing using foundation papers". The foundataion papers mentioned are 2-1/2 inch finished size half square triangle papers. It also says "Easy instructions inside to make the other foundation papers". If you google "Half square triangle papers" you'll come up with lots of hits. They're also known as "Thangles"
