The listing, Indian Earrings Vintage by Apache has ended.
These are vintage handmade burden basket earrings made by the Apache Indians. They have silver tin cone jingles.
History of the burden basket was that it was carried on the back and supported by a strap on the forehead. The tin cones jingle when the basket is moved. This sound would ward off snakes as the woman walked through the desert.
I have not cleaned the jingles as it shows they are silver. They measure 3" long. The little basket without jingles measures about 1/2".
These were probably made in the early 1960's and sold as souvenirs.
Very nice little vintage pair of native american art as well as nice earrings.
