It can handle just about any soldering job. The other insert is for plastic repair. Included is 2 welding tips to help with plastic repair. Comes with 2 bundles of plastic welding rod. Probably a dumb question but you say this has a 240 volt element. so do you need a 240 volt power source or does it run on 110 volt?

You will need a 240 volt power source. There's several different 240 plugs. This is a euro 240. You can see what it looks like in one of my pictures I posted. A 240 element gets hotter, & will last longer than your average elements. Thanks for Looking & GOD BLESS!!!
