Description

The listing, 5 Cardiocrinum Seeds has ended.

This auction is for seeds of the amazing Cardiocrinum giganteum plant. It is a bulbous perennial hardy to zone 6 or 7. A friend gave the seeds to me and she got them from the collector who got them in the Himalayas!!!
They will grow to almost 8' tall when ready to flower. But it takes up to 5 years before they will flower, so patience is needed.
Sow them thinly on the surface of soilless sterile potting mix and cover with a layer of fine grit. Place the pot either outside for germination after 2 months of cold or you speed things up by keeping the pot at room temp. for a month then putting the pot in the fridge for a month. Move the pot to room temp again for germination. Take care to protect the seedlings from slugs!
Good luck!!

I'm zone 8, I just looked it up, is this for zone 6-7 only? Thanks.

Oh No....zone 8 would be perfect to grow this. It's might not be hardy in zone 6..too cold. But you shouldn't have any problems.

These are really cool, but I don't think they would be hardy enough here and not sure how they would over winter in a pot, but I am tempted to try!
