The listing, Gold Mans Wristwatch Elgin Vintage Deco has ended.
This is an old American made Elgin watch from about 1960 or so. It is not running, but complete. Needs a strap. The bezel is 10k Rolled Gold Plate, the back stainless steel.
Rolled Gold Plate means solid gold mated to base metal under heat and pressure. It is much thicker than electroplate.
I did not open the case so I do not know the number of jewels in the movement. Probably either 7 or 15 jewels.
Elgin , based in Illinois, was the largest producer of watches in the USA - this is a plus because the parts needed for repair are still out there. They made more than 50 million watches in total.
As you can see from the photo, this is a very fine looking watch in very nice shape, gold numbers and hands on a silvered dial. I bought this years ago meaning to fix it up and wear it myself, but just never got around to it.
