(The text describes one of the episodes of the defeat of the troops of imperialist Japan by the Soviet Red Banner Amur Flotilla. Events took place on the Pacific Ocean, on the coast of Sakhalin Island, on the Chinese coast towards the city of Harbin, the northeastern coast of Korea, the Kuril Islands.)

Contents of the text translation on the postcard:

"Moto torpedo boats' attack.

On the night of August 8 to 9, 1945, a detachment of torpedo boats of the G-5 type (commander of the detachment, Captain 3rd Rank K.V. Kazachinsky) conducted an impudent operation on the port of Rasin (Najin). The purpose of the operation was to disrupt the evacuation of Japanese troops by the sea. An hour before dawn, Soviet bombers bombed the port.
Using the darkness and thunder of explosions, the boats openly passed by two islands with counter-boats batteries of the enemy that covered the narrow passage to the sea bay, and attacked the Japanese sea vessels that were stationed there on the roadstead.
This attack was a complete surprise for the enemy. Only when the boats departed back did the enemy discover them, tried to light them with searchlights and open an artillery fire over them.
The Japanese lost at the same time 4 sea transport with a displacement of 7 to 8 thousand tons and some of their vessels were damaged. Captain 3rd Rank K.V. Kazachinsky September 14, 1945 was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union - the highest Soviet award.

Printed in Moscow in 1979."

Letters from Russia go a long way (25 or 40 days)

I have received postcards from Russia and I give them a long, long time. I read your postcard about the Soviet Battle with Japan. While it is true that we bombed Japan.I heard that they were afraid that Russia would get into World WAr 2 and so the japanese surrendered. Perhaps this battle influenced the Japanese.

I can not say anything about this, because I'm not a historian. You know that many of the materials of that time are still kept under the sign "Top Secret". And we can draw conclusions, only from what is known to a wide range of people at the present time. As it is known to me, this is not the only combat operation of the Soviet fleet of that time. I have more postcards on this topic.

The Japanese greatly feared the Soviet Union getting involved in World War 2. I have read this is many history books but I can not say any battles Because my reading did not include this subject.

In the Soviet Union and Russia, too, not very detailed coverage of these events. The most popular topic was about the Battles of Khalkhin Gol (before the 2nd World War) and the trek through the Gobi desert and Hinggan (after the victory over Hitler).
