I recently germinated some lemon plants indoors and have been growing some nice, healthy little trees under fluorescent light. They were so successful that I now have about 20 of them, so I decided to share some of them here!

They're about 2 months old now and the last 3 photos show how much they've grown!

Due to individual differences they have grown at various rates. Some of them are about an inch tall, some up to 3 or 4 inches tall, some have small leaves, and others fairly large ones. I believe they're all the same cultivar, but since I bought the fruit from the grocery store I have been unable to find out the variety. I can tell you that the lemons I got these from were the smallish round ones rather than the big more oval-shaped ones. Nevertheless, they were very juicy!

Lemon trees are good for their fruit but their leaves have also been known to develop a lovely lemon fragrance inside your home when kept indoors in a pot or planter.

Full sun is recommended but they can be grown indoors with sufficient lighting.

Generally lemon trees take 3-4 years to bear fruit under the right conditions. Some can take longer, but with the right care they are worth the wait!
