A beautiful edible and bold backdrop for your Cottage Garden Kitchen. At first glance, Red Burgundy Okra appears to be an eye-popping ornamental. Yet, on closer inspection will you recognize its signature spiked fruit is . . . okra!
The rich color of red burgundy dominates the entire plant; including its 6-8' stately stalks, spiked okra and even the veins running through its large green leaves.
Born at the Clemson University, the Red Burgundy Okra also gives you more for your buck. It has the same healthy values. It produces longer throughout the season. And, the Red Burgundy Okra remains 'tender' when harvested at 5-6". Green okra must be picked at 3-4".
Historically: In 1988, five years after Leon Robbins of the Clemson University first bred the Red Burgundy Okra, it was the winner of the coveted All-America Selections.
