Questions & Comments
My sister read this when I was diagnosed. She said that this one and Kay Redfield Jamison's book, "The Unquiet Mind," were the best that she ever read on the subject. Thank you for listing. I will definately be watching and biddding nearer the end of the auction.
I have recently joined a support group on Meet-up for folks working on their "recovery" from bipolar disorder. It focuses on DBT skills (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy) and putting them to use, in order to circumvent/avoid/lessen the impact of episodes and/or cope with stressors/triggers. I was not diagnosed until I was 41. I would have liked it to have been much sooner..But, it is what it is. Welcome to Listia. I hope you have much fun here.
Nice book, i have bipolor manic depresstion. I learn to deal with it, its managable most times but then again in psychology it is a proven fact that bipolor people are more creative then people who are not so theres upsides :D
My husband and I really had a bad year in 2011. He was in the hospital five times. Sometimes his meds just stop working and have to be changed. We hope this year will be better for us and for you also. We will have been married 25 years in April.
I hope things get better for you. I unfortunately divorced after 28 yrs, but there was such abuse over the years and I am in a better place. I am just not able to get good care without insurance. It is nice to hear positive things
An Unquiet Mind is definitely the best book I ever read on BP Disorder as well! If anyone needs a friend or coping skills - feel free to contact me. I am a professional singer and have been living with this for some time. Please get involved in NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) they have great support groups and when you join, our voice is stronger and people won't treat us like lepers but like people who have diabetes of the mind or something. Disease is disease and it takes a village! xo
I have alot of this disease in my family, and it has caused alot of heartache between me and my mother....she goes from one extreme of loving me to the next saying im no longer her daughter, when this happens the hurt is horrible and I try to just keep my distance, but then I buckle because I miss her....I tell you its a life long pain that only people around it could possibly understand...I wanna read The Unquiet Mind, Ive heard its an amazing book!! I feel the same if anyone needs to take please contact me at stylnhare@yahoo.com, God Bless you all!!!!!
