An important nectar source for butterflies, bees and wasps, Milkweed supplies nectar through five slits in each flower. Visiting pollinators fly off with pollen sacs in a unique form of pollination. Flowers vary widely in shape, size and color, depending on species. The easiest way is to sprinkle some seeds around in the fall after a killing frost and wait for spring. The seeds experience winter and know when it's time to get growing in spring.
