The listing, Vintage Pineneedle Basket Handmade has ended.

This is a beautiful handmade basket from the 1950's. All lined inside. Beautiful stitchwork. This basket is a nice size, 9 1/2 " wide by almost 3" tall.

Pine needle baskets have been made for many years. Native americans made use of the fallen pine needles and in this country during the civil war, a hat was made from pine needles and started people making them. Back during the 1930's up through the 1950's it was very popular to make these baskets, made into purses and very interesting artwork. It declined for awhile and started back up again in the last 10 years. I found this at an estate sale.
