Do they need to be planted in a pot or can they be planted in the ground? Also, do you know how tolerant they are to the cold? Will they have to be brought in during the winter?

NO pot I plant mine in the ground and live in zone 5, they comeback up every year here, They are zones 2a-10b so no one should have a problem with them.

they are easy carefree plants. I don't do anything to mine sun and shade they grow for me and even winter over here in zone 5.

the unripe berries are poisonous if eaten, and the same for pets to I believe.
