The listing, Tiny White Wild Violet seeds - Itty bitty sweet miniature woodland wildflower Victorian Garden has ended.
Hi!
I found these teeny sweeties growing in my side yard. I have no idea what species type they are, but they have little green heart shaped leaves. The flowers are a bright luminous white, with reddish purple veined and shaded throats. So, so pretty. A fairy favorite. :)
These are what pansy and johnny-jump-ups started as, which I think is pretty cool. They're all in the Viola Family, and over many years of selective breeding, these little wild ones turned into the bright pansies you see at your local greenhouse. :)
I was surprised at the tiny-ness of these little white violets. They only grew to about 2" tall at the most. They seeded freely, and should bloom the first year. These would be amazing container plants!!! Imagine a flowerpot of these blooming on your office desk. Violets have a tendency to multiply and form colonies. If you're ok with a carpet of flowers, plant them wherever. But if you want to keep them in one location, a container is best. They bloom May- June. Violets do well in full sun, but they prefer shade to part shade. They like smooshy, rich soil. The flowers of violets are completely edible! Add them to your salads for a nice effect. (I can't think of a better way to get kids to eat vegetables than to put flowers in them!)
They also press well for use in crafts and scrapbooking.
Winner will receive a minimum of 15 seeds.
Freshly collected last August 2011 for planting in 2012.
I will ship these in a padded envelope for safety, with a print out of growing instructions.
