The listing, 1898-S Silver Morgan Dollar Round (Guaranteed to contain 90% silver) has ended.

Type: Morgan Silver Dollar
Year: 1898
Mint Mark: S
Face Value: 1.00 USD
Silver Content: 90%
Silver Weight: .7735 oz.

NOTICE:  Please read the full listing carefully before placing a bid...

My dad bought these coins on eBay and got screwed.  He took about 60 of them to get graded, but ANAC could not guarantee that they were 100% authentic.  My dad was going to melt them down for the silver content, but I offered to take them off his hands and offer the rounds to someone that cannot afford the real thing and add them to their collection and to someone who can really appreciate these forms of artwork.

The weight is correct, the diameter is correct, the composition is correct to a genuine U. S. mint Morgan Dollar.  Again, I guarantee you that this round contains 90% silver and 10% copper.  This is the exact round you will receive.

Yes, that is why ANAC could not guarantee that they were 100% authentic. but they did conclude that they do contain 90% silver. This is stated in my listing. Thank you for commenting. :)

very strange that they could not tell if they were authentic or not that's their job? did they check all 60 coins, because it is not cheap to have them grade just one coin, may i ask how they know they are 90% silver, also may i ask if he is a member of ANAC? sorry for all the questions, but i would still be interested in the silver,ty

My dad took some coins down to the local coin dealer. The coin dealer had a machine and said that they contained at least 90% silver and copper he told my dad he would buy them if he could get it authenticated through ANAC. So he took him down to get them graded with ANAC in Centennial, Colorado. That is where we used to live until we moved to Virginia about 10 months ago. When we got there they took the coins to the back and came out and told us that everything was correct but they could not authenticate it because some of the dates off-centered. Before they grade anything they take it to the back and look at it to make sure it is real because they will not authenticate anything that's original.

Since housing is so much cheaper out here my dad is considering buying a beach house in Virginia Beach and a house near Kimball, West Virginia for ATVing and camping. Buy 3 homes for the price of 1 home in Colorado.

When someone makes a fake Morgan or Peace coin they do not use 90% silver. The coin and pawn shops use an acid test to find out the percentage of the amount of silver in a coin. The ANAC is an expensive grading service for coins. To get 60 coins graded would be expensive and each one would be in a slab to identify the grade of the coin and other details. The fake coins are made of alloy or other metals. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the comment. The coin shop my dad went to uses a handheld XRF. Also the grading service ANAC uses a  handheld XRF. They are located in Centennial Colorado and when we walk through the door at the location a lady met us and asses of they could take the coins to the back when they did they said the dates were not correct but it was 90% silver.
