It says on the box that it sculpts, firms and tones muscle. I have a tens unit and this is kinda set up the same way but I don't think it's meant to help relieve pain. Hope this helps.

Was just looking at fine print on side of box. That says suitable for stiff shoulders, chronic lower back pain, neuralgia ect.. so I guess it could help with pain. Sorry about the confusion. I never used it. I only put batteries in it to show it does work. Batteries are included.

Replacements can be found eBay. I checked online and eBay popped up. They run about 4-5 dollars average.
