It comes with a small battery the size of a nickel in the back of the remote and that battery lasts a long long time! I've had personal my bulbs for 4 years now & I've never needed to replace the remote batteries or the bulb ~ and we use these every night in our kids rooms :)

Yes there are many colors and many settings on the remote ~ you simply point the remote at the bulb & click ~ it's really awesome :)

Yes you can make it dim or bright :) My personal favorite is the dimmest orange setting ~ it looks like a candle is lit in the room ~ but with no worries about a lit flame :)
