RED BURGUNDY OKRA
Red Burgundy Okra is not well-known, but among those gardeners who grow it -- it is well-loved.

A beautiful edible and bold backdrop for your Cottage Garden Kitchen. At first glance, Red Burgundy Okra appears to be an eye-popping ornamental. Yet, on closer inspection will you recognize its signature spiked vegy is okra!
The rich color of red burgundy dominates the entire plant; including its 6-8' stately stalks, spiked okra and even the veins running through its large green leaves.
Born at the Clemson University, the Red Burgundy Okra also gives you more for your buck. It has the same healthy values and produces longer throughout the season and the taste (I fried mine in cornmeal) was soooo good.
Historically: In 1988, five years after Leon Robbins of the Clemson University first bred his unique hybrid (which is not a GMO, but a combination of heirlooms) the Red Burgundy Okra took home the coveted All-America Selections.
