Fenton Carnival Plate No. 1 Annual Series Collectors
Sorry for the photos, my camera messed up. It is dark blue carnival glass as the previous ones I have posted in Mint Condition.
This is a Fenton carnival plate in very good condition measuring 8 1/4" in diameter and weighing 1.75 pounds, no chips or cracks. It has an ornate edging of flowers and leaves. The figure on the plate is of one of the earliest glass craftsmen in America. It is quite detailed and the scene and edging are upraised from the surface. This is a darker iridescent plate predominantly purple on the back with blue, green and yellow on the front depending how the light reflects off of it. On the back it reads, "The Fenton Art Glass Company commemorates with this handmade plate the earliest glass craftsman of New America, Jamestown 1608. No. 1 in the annual series of collector's plates by Fenton 1970." It has the Fenton mark also on the back.
