The listing, The Tooth...Ahhh. the tooth!! has ended.
Oh lordy!! If you could enlighten me on this one I would be so appreciative!! All I know is...my uncle was in the service during WW!! and brought this home!! The Almighty Tooth!!! Free shipping in the US of A.
You just might be right! I was hoping some archeologist would see this!! Good idea...thanks!! Living out in the country I have seen all kinds of animal teeth, but nothing like this!!
Thank you so much for your input! I'm getting a good education well need on this one! This tooth becomes more interesting to me all the time. This particular tooth is I'm sure an inch long or better.I'll bet it'd be pretty carved!! Thanks for watching too! I love getting all this information!! Only 2 per elk? That explains why such a call for them.
the elk ivories are what makes the bugle. an elks bugle on a wintry western morning when the morning dew is settling is one of the most beautiful, serene sounds I have ever encountered. if you would like to help protect the elk and their habitat, look up the RMEF ...Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. we raise money to buy land for the elk to live, grow, and prosper. most of the members are hunters, and would like to see the elk population rejuvenated so they would be able to hunt them without paying an exorbitant amount. I don't do that, but I don't condemn them either. there is probably an "Elk Chapter" in your neighborhood. especially of you're north or west of the Mississippi. also...the RMEF newsletter/magazine is titled "The Bugle"
I understand where you are coming from. In my opinion...we were provided with resources to allow us to provide. I am totally against anyone killing a animal that is left to go to waste. That constitutes nothing less than slaughter. I did not slaughter this elk! If I had hunted it...it would have been only for the factor of much need of feeding my family!
Interesting way to find out what something is. I have no idea about the tooth but I've seen boxes like that in many gift shops.. so he probably bought it at a gift shop where he was stationed. cool auction but going for more than I have.
I've worked for a dental office for years. That's an actual tooth with one side of the root broken on and the tip of that root in the pic has broken off too. It probably broke off in the gum during extract. The tooth was probably causing great pain and was difficult to remove, so that's may be why it's called...the tooth!
