I am a bit mouse illiterate, so I am not sure what "optical" stands for..can you tell me is this an infrared style, or does it have the ball in the bottom that rolls in order to move the mouse around?

Im not a big mouse fanatic so i had to google what you were talking about. Haha.
It uses the red light under neath for movement. Thats what optical means. So no roller balls like old mouses. Just the red light.

I enjoy using the optical/laser mouse. They work much better than the roller mouse unless the roller is on top but you don't move the mouse then. The optical/laser is better because you don't have to clean a ball from dust/dirt, etc. good auction.
