i have never messed with it. my mother got it for me a long time ago and i have no interest in using it.

its called needlepunch... the handheld needle contraption in the plastic case pushes embroidery thread thru from the back of the fabric. You end up with a fluffly 'front' kind of like terry cloth. use needlepunch to search on internet for better explanation.

I would get it but I already have one :-) good luck.
