Its prolly longer than 18 inches, i cant and wont mess around unknotting it!!!! you probally have patience for that, I do not. not tarnished, good metal of some sort, didnt see any sterling mark on it though???? you see its got both end of the closure.

Its neither, just a good old metal that doesnt tarnish and doesnt rub off like the cheap stuf 2day, and wont leave your neck green....but will frenzy you with the knots, its not wierd twisted either./ eg bent
