The same thing, some people call them chips others call them cards. You know the sd Card that people sometimes put into their phones to hold more music.

No paper work but simple to use, that usb cable charges it and you transfer music with it. It's a clip on so you can go for a walk and have it right on your side. I hope I've answered all of your questions!
