Proof coin is a coin that has been struck twice to give a more define look ,shinier and cleaner look,on other hand most of the coins put out for circulation is only struck once

Collectors disire them more ,and depends what coin it is for the pricing,depends on varieties,errors the cost of a coin,sometimes don't need errors or varieties,just a very clean stamped coin,and depends on mintage as well,how many were made

Oh no I love answering questions,I don't know all the answer but would let you know,mintage is the amount of coins made each year,but some years some coins they didn't make a lot,example 1940 penny ,3 coins,mint marks-p,d,s,where they were made,1940 p they made (586,810,000)-1940d (81,390,00)-1940s (112,940,000)
