They die out each winter and come back up from seeds in the spring, they can take up to even 120 days to bloom from time when sowed, though most people have had blooms after 1.5 - 2 months. Depends on location, water, soil, sun etc. Takes about 4 to 5 months in hot dry west Texas to get them like those pictured.
