you are right about the date on the cuffs...they were made in 1932...and were made by Smith & Wesson and were produced in Springfield, Mass...but were used in basically every prison in the united states in that era and were also used by the law enforcement of that day...
I took your advice and looked up the serial number for the cuffs and they are Police Prison issued cuffs most likely for Alcatraz and can be bought on Ebay.com for $45.00 and come with two keys...but they were not used in the movie Shawshank...or worn by Morgan Freeman...the ones used in the movie were props...not real...
What is the model number? There is more than one Springfield prison, in which state is the your talking from? No doubt they look old just trying to get more info thank you

haha, the # for information...which I think you have Very Well provided on these.I wish I had enough credits to get these as this brand of handcuffs is the real deal. The same brand my dad used to carry. Not to mention the age of them and the condition of the teeth.I did not know this old they even double locked! But of course I have never seen any S&W anywhere this old.Fanned and watching(sigh).
These are 1932 S&W handcuffs I did some more research on these they cost $5.00 to have custom made for skinny hands back in 1932 and believe or not they stopped useing these handcuffs in 1998 they used the old one's in the old 1980 prison movie shaweshanke and these were the same one when they had Morgan freemen hanging by his hands in the movie and that's the truth no lie
