This has been tested, as I used it myself for a few months. Works great. Needs new batteries, too lazy to get new ones and it's absolete now that I have an ipad.One of the pictures shows the used batteries that are still in it, thought I'd leave them in so you'll know what kind it takes. Has a quick reference guide right on the inside of the lid for easy use!

what type of batteries?

it translates English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

it takes 2 batteries, type: CR2032. They look like watch batteries to me, but I could be wrong, not a big expert on batteries :)
