The Morgan Silver Dollar was released during one of the most eventful periods in the history of US currency. It was produced by the United States Mint from 1878 to 1904 with one more year of production in 1921. Because these coins were minted prior to the 1965 cessation of silver coinage, they were composed from 90% pure silver. Their unique mintage year also makes them the first silver dollars to be released after the Coinage Act of 1873 caused the value of silver to drop to an unprecedented low.
Each Morgan Silver Dollar featured in this collection has been assigned an MS64 (Mint State 64) grade by the NGC (Numismatic Gauranty Corporation). An MS64 grade indicates that the coin has a worn, but acceptable appearance. Coins with this grade will display several clusters of hairline marks as well as a number of light contact marks. To prevent any further deterioration, all coins will arrive in their individually sealed NCG slabs.
