vine length: 20+ feet
grows best in: full sun, well draining, slightly acidic soil. requires lots of nitrogen – amend soil with compost, manure or fertilizer before planting and fertilize lightly during growing period. needs warm weather – gourd vines will not stand frost or freezing rain/sleet. these gourds can range in size from a small basketball to five feet around and can weigh upwards of 100 pounds.
