Description

The listing, L@@K!! Adorable Porcelain Baby Girl Doll 11" has ended.

Adorable little porcelain baby girl doll. Porcelain head and hands - the rest is soft body. Poseable arms and legs. She has realistic ginger auburn hair and feathery realistic eye lashes. A sweet sleepy face with pouty little lips. Her peach gingham dress is adorned with antiqued lace ruffles and peach colored silk roses. She wears a peach colored ribbon atop her head trimmed with peach colored silk roses. She is also wearing little pink booties on her cloth feet.
The tag on her dress states "Not a Toy". So it's not recommended for younger children to play with. I bought it for my 5 year old granddaughter, but she only likes Barbie dolls (excuse me!) So here it is up for grabs!
If bids reach over 5,000 I will do free ship! Otherwise I'm charging just $3.00 to offset the postage. I wrap very well and will ship within 3 days of closing of the auction.
Smoke free home. I have two cats but they do not enter the room where this doll is kept.

No. It is porcelain, like china. They used to be referred to as china dolls. The composition of porcelain is highly variable, but the clay mineral kaolinite is often a raw material. Other raw materials can include feldspar, ball clay, glass, bone ash, steatite, quartz, petuntse and alabaster. I've seen people refer to it as "GLASS", but that is something I've only seen here on Listia(?) A bisque doll or porcelain doll is a doll made partially or wholly out of bisque porcelain. Bisque dolls are characterized by their realistic, skin-like matte finish. They had their peak of popularity between 1860 and 1900 with French and German dolls. Bisque dolls are collectible, and antique dolls can be worth thousands of US dollars. Antique German and French bisque dolls from the 19th century were often made as children's playthings, but contemporary bisque dolls are predominantly made directly for the collectors market.
Colloquially the terms porcelain doll, bisque doll and china doll are sometimes used interchangeably. But collectors, when referring to antique dolls, make a distinction between china dolls, made of glazed porcelain, and bisque dolls, made of unglazed porcelain. When referring to contemporary dolls the terms porcelain and bisque are sometimes used interchangeably. Google "Porcelain Doll" and you'll see no where are they referred to as GLASS.
