~Lion's Ear, Lion's Tail, Wild Dagga Leonotis leonurus~
This has got to be the coolest plant ! i started this baby by seed last spring an was late getting it planted, but it took off and my husband called it a" Dr Seuss" plant. It looks like something out of one of his books. LOL
Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds love it!
But beware, them suckers are prickly and they hurt! Trust me !! I wear leather gloves and cut below the pod then turn it upside down in a paper bag to collect seeds. :)
All my seeds are grown & harvested by me. I do not use any pesticides or any chemicals at all in my yard. Blooms Late Summer/Early Fall
pinch back to make it bushier, I didn't and mine were closer to 10 ft tall. I had to stake them when we got a bad wind storm. so I will probably made mine bushier this year. Then maybe I can smell them. I read they are aromatic, but the flowers were at about 6 ft or so. .
