While visiting the Peace Park in Hiroshima, Japan, I saw thousands of chains of rainbow-colored folded paper cranes, draped over a memorial to the children who died from the bombing. Sadako Sasaki, a year old when the bomb was dropped, survived but later died at age 12. Her desire for peace in the world led her to fold 1,000 paper peace cranes. Children around the world still fold peace cranes, which are stacked in long chains.
