Omg its so weird that you said that about cropping because I just discovered that by accident maybe a week ago! See, originally I would take the picture from far away (like you said), but then I would adjust it ON the camera and bring it up way close.. which the pics were DECENT that way...but then I noticed that the original pics that were taken from far away were so CLEAR and clearer than that same photo brought up close on my camera! So I did what you said - opened it in paint and cropped it, then zoomed in on my COMPUTER instead of my camera and it made SUCH a big difference. But still...yours are better! LOL. I will try bouncing the light off the mirror like you said ..I also always stand far away..about 3ft like you.. and usually dont point the camera directly at the object b/c the flash always ruins it. Which is another thing..I only have one setting on my camera to not use a flash and everytime I use it the photos come out SO blurry...it doesn't make sense!! AHHHHHH thank God I'm not a photographer I would go nuts! Lol.

I was just thinking of you.. I was here taking pics of the next batch of beads I have used up. I always buy way too many and now just list the balance here...
I am loosing my vision so the lighting in my home is bright... My kitchen has a ceiling fan with (4) 75 wt. bulbs and then another light that is a florescent one with 4 bulbs. So this by most peoples standards a bright room.. My pics are taken between these lights. (lights are about 6 feet on either side of me).
I used a simple bendable desk lamb and the mirror to do the light bounce. It works great... lamp on one side mirror on the other and reflecting the light to the object.

I did photography Black and White year ago. I loved developing the film never knowing if you had gotten that perfect shot. Now well I guess it is still a bit of luck for me.. I don't really see what I am taking pictures of if it is far off... So I am always surprised when I zoom in on the puter at the house.
Never crop on the camera.. the closer you crop the less pixels you have... Stay with in 4 feet and you should do great.
Crop on the Puter... and you can lighten it up some if you need to. I don't do that often because it changes the color of the object sometimes too much.

By the way your pics are great.. I checked out a lot of your auctions... they are very good pictures. That is why I bid like a wild woman on yours... I wanted the fairy ear rings and the Cross necklace set. :)
Thank you again the items were so beautiful. They have brought so much happiness ....
I hope that you have a wonderful joy filled Week and your auctions go through the roof...

No not mad..was just a little surprised but I'm over it... It's yours so you can do what you want with it.. Just out of curiosity, how do you get your photos to come out so well? That's like the clearest photo I've ever seen and if I could get my photos to look like that I would be selling a lot more single pieces of jewelry instead of lots LOL I always use the Macro close up setting for single pieces and try to take them with filtered sunlight instead of a lamp, but still it doesn't even come close to what yours look like. And I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the flash either but if I put it on a no flash setting my photos always come out blurry! I have a Nikon point and shoot regular digital camera...idk, if you have any tips would very much appreciate it! :)

I am sorry ... I have seen so much of my stuff come back up on Listia. LOL I have even found it on Ebay. But it is kinda cool to know it is finding a home rather than sitting in a box somewhere.

I am using a very old (about 10 years old) 5mp Kodak Easyshare. These pictures were taken on my kitchen counter under house lighting. When I use the micro setting I am about 3 feet from the object. If i use the flash you will notice that i am not over or near the object. I bounce it off the counter. I also use an old mirror to bounce house light onto the object if needed
Try getting further from the object.. You don't have to have it that close up if you have more then 5 mp on your camera you can crop out what you don't need later. I think that is what is up with a lot of the pics. They are trying to get too close and forgetting that you can just crop to be close. It may take a few steps more but you get better pictures.

Be safe and well I hope you have a Blessed Night

You're very welcome and it's ok that you didn't like everything cuz you liked most of it so as long as I didn't send you all pieces you didn't like I'm perfectly fine with it lol I would be mad at myself if that happened though, not you lol. It's funny cuz I remember you saying you wanted something with bling to give as a gift and besides the rhinestone stuff I gave you I didn't really have anything blingy left so this necklace was the only thing I could find even close to being blingy but guess I was a little off lol but anyway thanks for all your help I will definitely try that I appreciate it and thank you for the kind words on my auctions! :)
