This is a Kyocera ceramic-bladed mandoline (slicer) imported from Japan. It is in its original package, and has never been used. If you haven't used a ceramic cutting tool before, they are amazingly sharp, and are also renowned for not imparting any metallic taste to fruits and veggies. Use this to cut tomatoes, fruit, cucumbers, etc. into neat, thin slices by simply sliding the item back and forth over the blade.

We have several Kyocera ceramic knives, they are great as long as you treat them gently (they are for peeling or slicing, not chopping). But, my wife and I are both a little afraid of losing part of a digit to this baby!
