The listing, L@@K!! EsTATe FIND!! OPaLs & RHineSTNeS on GOLD??? SIZE 9 or 10** WOOOHOOO!!! has ended.
HELLO LISTIA PEOPLE!! Today I had SOOOO much fun at an AWESOME estate sale.... I will just mention some of the many terrific goodies I found Valentino, Gucci and Porsche sunglasses, Tiffani earrings etc... So it was VERY high end, and I got this for my friends at LISTIA, when I got it I was so sure it was gold, the opals are real and the COCKTAIL setting IS great but even with my 10x magnifier I really cannot understand the mark so I don't want to mislead no one, it might be gold (or that is what I though) but I cannot guarantee that, therefore lets say it is a terrific piece of high end costume jewelry (and it should be for having opals on it.... And the BEST it is FREE!!! & SHIPPING IS FREE TOO!! :) US
Questions & Comments
I copied the photo and enlarged it, I can see the mark but can't make out what it says, but it looks like the bottom of a "k" on the right side.
wow... really, so maybe I am auctioning a gold ring hehehe... anyway whoever gets it will love it for sure, it is beautiful and I did not wanted to list it as gold for I was not sure
I remember these rings too... they were common in mail orders back in the 70's or 80's, I think they are opal and CZ, but Electro plated with gold... my mom used to get them all the time.
When I find a ring that still looks gold in color and is moderately worn I tend to think it might be real, it seems most of the time you can tell if a ring is plated in the areas that have more wear, many times it wears right through.... Nice auction, Opals are a wonderful stone..
My grandmother gave me her ring which is IDENTICAL.. Her's was REAL GOLD, Opal, and Diamonds. I'm thinking this one is too... Just thought I'd share! :)
Thanks Peque! I just put everything I have on this until my listings begin to end, but I only have a few ending before this does. Will be fun to see what happens. What are you looking at?
Well, I'm still not sure, couldn't really see the mark, in the larger photo it wasn't any clearer than the other. I just think it's probably old and worn, and if it is a foreign mark it would be hard to figure out anyway. Good luck ... nice piece, whatever it is. Opals are always nice, and probably ARE set in real gold!
I tried it again with photo six, but the image is just too blurry. It could be that it is worn down, and possibly poorly struck. A jeweler could do a gold test (or anyone that has a gold testing kit) and let you know if it is plated or solid, and what karat it is.
Thanks Nan!!!... Maybe the reason why I cannot see is because it is worn.... I try so many times, as I said even gave me a headache ....LOL You can actually see it in picture 4 and 5 here, I just cannot come to understand it, maybe someone here can :)))
I usually can only see the marks on my photos. I try to get a really good photo then crop it way in to see the mark. A lot of old jewlery might have foreign gold marks on it. If it''s marked it's probably gold, unless it's a maker's mark. You can find the marks online to identify them.
Rosaura Castaneda Thanks Nan!!!... Maybe the reason why I cannot see is because it is worn.... I try so many times, as I said even gave me a headache ....LOL You can actually see it in picture 4 and 5 here, I just cannot come to understand it, maybe someone here can :)))
