the auction is for 50 seeds more than enough to get you started you can learn how to prepare by talking to the older members of your family or the southern branch of the family , youtube also has many videos on how to prepare this delicious green , or you can do as l do and just let the darn thing grow and attract songbirds to your back yard , the finches really love the seeds
the plant grows about 8 feet tall and is covered with the berries as you can see from the pictures and each berry has 4-8 seeds gret plant for that spot in the gearden thats hard to find a plant for 8 feet tall and about 6 feet of spread and you will have birds every where lol
They include mourning doves, bluebirds, robins, mockingbirds, and cedar waxwings, all of which commonly eat fruit. Flickers, red-bellied woodpeckers, phoebes, kingbirds, catbirds, cardinals, rose-breasted grosbeaks, and white-throated sparrows also feast on these berries. Migrating birds stop and fuel up on them. This plant is equivalent to aprox 3 10 pound bags of bird seed , the only difference is you don't have to keep refilling the feeder , squirrels will not bother the plant , hate these lol got squirrels all over here and they just simply avoid everything to do with the plant !!!!
the credits l have listed for this is equivalent to about one dollar , l don't feel that is too high for the amount of benefit you get . Three of these plants placed on your property and you will never have to buy bird seed again , my mrs used to buy 2 bags of bird seed a month and never had any left , squirrels ate most of that . we haven't bought a bag of bird seed since last summer , only bad part is the squirrels are mad at me lol
these plants are perennial , just plant the seed and let nature take care of it and it will come back every year
