Yes it is. That is what I used for my Desktop Computer until I got myself a router and some Cat6 cable.

You can, with a Custom Firmware Update, "hack" this so it acts like a wireless access point. Here is the link to the directions. Please note that to do the hack you will be messing around with some registry info and that can mess up your PC.
